Ducati, Motorcycle Movies and Skiing

Where is it written motorcycles need to be stored away during those winter months? The latest motorcycle movie proves otherwise.

Clutch and Chrome has always thrown out ideas and ways riders can get more enjoyment and more importantly, add varied fun miles to the odometer, but even this one took us by surprise. Understand, the movie isn’t about the growing craze of riding motorcycles across sheets of ice, but taking riders from one passion to another.

Ducati has joined forces with a big name in snow sports cinema, Warren Miller Entertainment, to bring audiences an exhilarating adventure in the new film “Line of Descent,” which prominently features the Italian company’s new Multistrada 950 adventure motorcycle. The movie is the 68th ski and snowboard feature to come from Warren Miller Entertainment and will premiere on October 13 in select cities, before the nationwide opening in more than 120 major markets, to kick-off the start of ski season.

“Motorcycling shares a spirit similar to that of skiing and snowboarding, one of adrenaline and a love of the outdoors,” said Jason Chinnock, CEO of Ducati North America. “Partnering on Warren Miller’s newest film, alongside Volkswagen, was an excellent opportunity to show how versatile Ducati motorcycles can be, all-year-round.”

Its pretty interesting to see riders kitting up to ride their Multistrada 950 motorcycles with skis firmly attached. The newest, and most affordable entry into the Multistrada family, the Multistrada 950 is officially rode into showrooms in January 2017, with the price starting at $13,995 MSRP. The new 950 is an extension of the present Multistrada line-up, which currently includes the Multistrada 1200 S, Multistrada 1200 Enduro, as well as the Multistrada 1200 S Pikes Peak.

Continuing to hang onto their crown of social media and marketing, one of Ducati’s successes in selling the vision of its affordable Scrambler was to strap a surfboard to it, promoting a lifestyle rather than the motorcycle itself.

This latest move makes the 950 to snow what the Scrambler is to sand, and yes, feel free to use that during the next high-brow motorcycle conversation.
